Public consultation on Spending Review

Cllr David Mackintosh today started a public consultation programme ahead of the Government’s Spending Review next week. The public meetings will be held over the next six weeks in cooperation with Northamptonshire Police Authority to inform the public about the difficult decisions faced by local authorities looking to save public money and to seek the public’s view on their priorities. Winter weather programme for Rectory Farm

Cllr David Mackintosh and the Conservative Cabinet on the County Council today voted in favour of a new Winter Maintenance Programme for Northamptonshire for the winter weather which also puts Olden Road in Rectory Farm on the priority gritting route. This comes after key road repairs on Olden Road in Rectory Farm were carried out in July after a long campaign by Cllr Mackintosh and the Residents Association for the road to be re-surfaced. Olympic benefits for Northamptonshire

Cllr David Mackintosh today attended a meeting with the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport, Jeremy Hunt MP, and the Chairman of the London 2012 Olympic Organising Committee, Lord Coe, to discuss ways in which areas outside of London can benefit from the London Olympics in 2012. Pride in Northamptonshire

Cllr David Mackintosh tonight attended the Pride in Northamptonshire Awards at Wicksteed Park Pavillion organised by the Evening Telegraph and the Chronicle & Echo to recognise key achievements in our county and some of unsung heroes. Cllr Mackintosh gave a speech outlining the reasons to be proud of Northamptonshire and then presented an Award for Raising the Profile of Northamptonshire to the winners, The Fermynwoods Art Project, and to runners-up Film Northants. The evening was hosted by EastEnders star, Ricky Groves, and the Editor of the Evening Telegraph, Jeremy Clifford.
