The Leader of Northampton Borough Council, Cllr David Mackintosh, today welcomed the Environment Secretary, Owen Paterson, to Northampton to see the flooding at Billing Aquadrome.
Northampton Borough Council and other agencies have been working to support everyone evacuated from holiday homes at Billing Aquadrome as a result of flooding this week.
Cllr David Mackintosh, Leader of Northampton Borough Council, said “I am very grateful to the Environment Secretary for coming to Northampton at short notice to see the impact the floods have had on our town.”
“In an emergency situation our immediate priority was to make sure everyone was safe and looked after so opening up Lings as a rest centre gave holiday home owners somewhere to go and a place to sleep while they made longer-term arrangements.”
“Now with the Environment Secretary we can look at the wider impact the flooding has had on the town and plans for the future.”
