Cllr David Mackintosh today gave a speech at a national conference on transparency in local government and how Northamptonshire County Council has been leading the way on being more open to scrutiny.
Cllr David Mackintosh said, “Here in Northamptonshire we are committed to making the County Council more transparent and open to scrutiny in line with the Government’s ambition. In fact, work to achieve this was already well underway before the new Government was elected and our early progress meant we have been well-placed to help other organisations learn from our experience.”
“In August, we hosted a visit from the Government as part of a review of best practice for transparency in local authorities as we have also been consulted by other local authorities looking to move their own transparency programmes forward. We started early and have continued to work hard to see real progress in this area, well ahead of the government’s January deadline.”
